Anya's been so excited about blue coming back. So excited in fact, that she's taking pictures of anything blue that she can see. The blue of the sky, the blue of the ocean when she takes a trip to the beach, the blue of some flowers, even the blue items that pop out of turkey eggs. Bruno is now getting a text with an assortment of these pictures. Happy Blues Day.]
bruno ! in russian there are two words for blue type colors yes ? [research says yes and these words are синий and голубой] are there more words for blue in english ? the sky blue or the ocean blue ?
[Well, her enthusiasm's cute, in the puppy-who-wants-to-show-you-everything sort of way.]
Hello, Anya. Those are lovely photos.
There are names for varying shades in English — for instance, cerulean or azure would fall under the category of голубой, and navy or ultramarine for синий. Unlike in Russian, however, this differentiation between shades is not mandatory. Therefore, in English, there are no true categories of blue besides "light blue" or "dark blue".
To my recollection, Russian is the only European language that makes this obligatory distinction.
If you're interested in this sort of thing, studies suggest that this particular trait of the Russian language affects Russian speakers' colour discrimination capabilities.
I haven't thought about it much, but if I had to pick, perhaps turquoise? And yours?
!! studies do ? language can really change the way that people see the world ? i thought so but it is funny to think that science says so too i will have to study hard so i can read it
i think the blue that is in the galaxy is very pretty i do not know if there is a special name for it though
"Stell" and "astr" are two common root words associated with stars. The etymology behind blue is more complicated, but I believe "bhel" is considered its root, meaning "to shine, flash, burn".
davenka used to say hallucinomemories ! about the things that people see once they have the app and then everyone would say hallucinomemories ! it was very neat
yes ! it was amazing i do not know if hallucinomemories is right anymore i think people are starting to call them memories does bruno know what i am saying ?

That's right — you like astronomy, correct? I don't think there's a name for that particular shade, though I confess this area isn't my strong point.
I THOUGHT I HIT THIS, JAN I'M THE WORST
maybe we should make up a new shade
[that's not how that works]
DANA DOESN'T LOVE ME
And how would we go about doing that?
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!
but parts of words are
not stems ....
roots ! [she had to google it]
so could we take roots from other words

[teach this shit to your students, bruno]
